Rachel Ann (Nafziger) Lindsay, 74, formerly of Maugansville, Md., died Sept. 13, 2014, at the Williamsport Nursing Home.

Rachel was born May 26, 1940, in Archbold, Ohio.

She was the daughter of the late Earl A. Nafziger and Blanche M. (Wyse) Nafziger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Lindsay in December 2012. They were married for 42 years.

Rachel grew up in the Archbold community and was raised in the Mennonite faith.

She graduated from Goshen (Ind.) College in 1962 with a BS in nursing.

Rachel was a registered nurse at Brook Lane Health Services. Her career spanned 43 years, and she was the Director of Nursing for many of those years.

She liked traveling, reading and bird watching.

Rachel baked delicious cookies. She previously was a member of the Hagerstown Choral Arts and enjoyed singing.

She is survived by one son, Jason P. Lindsay of Maugansville; Md.; two sisters, Janice Nafziger, of Wauseon and Rhoda Schrag, of Goshen, Ind.; seven brothers, Charles Nafziger and wife Esther, of LaJunta, Colo.; Ellis Nafziger and wife Pat, of Wauseon; Emerson Nafziger and wife Cynthia, of Champaign, Ill.; Verlin Nafziger and wife Donna, of Whitmore Lake, Mich.; Robert Nafziger and wife Deb, of Wauseon; Roger Nafziger and wife Laurie, of Goshen, Ind.; and John Nafziger and wife Beth, of Wauseon.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rachel was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Nafziger and Joseph Nafziger.

A memorial service was held Sept. 20, 2014, at 5 p.m. at the J. L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg, MD. Pastor Rhoda Schrag and Pastor Julie Brigham officiated.
