Police Release Crash Reports

Archbold police have released reports on several motor vehicle accidents that occurred recently.

•A car, driven by Timothy Cousino, Jr., 31, Wauseon, was involved in a collision with a second car, owned by Timothy James Hodson, West Unity.

Hodson was parked in the Sauder Woodworking Myers Road plant lot on Monday, Jan. 7. The report said at about 2:47 pm, Cousino was backing in the lot, and collided with Hodson. No injuries.

•A semi rig, driven by Brian J. Aeschliman, 22, rural Wauseon, owned by A&A Custom Crushing, Wauseon, struck a mailbox about 3:50 pm the same day.

The report states Aeschliman was backing his vehicle to the southwest on Murbach Street about 350 feet east of Meadow Road. As he did, he struck a mailbox. Aeschliman was cited for improper backing. No injuries.

•A two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Frey Road and Stryker Street, also known as St. Rt. 2 and Co. Rd. 24, about 7:59 am, Tuesday, Jan. 8.

The report states Mary Susan Burkhart, 60, Defiance, was driving a sport-utility vehicle north on Frey Road. She stopped for the stop sign at the Stryker Street intersection, then failed to yield the right-ofway and drove into the intersection, where she collided with a minivan driven by Matthew Steven Storrer, 24, Archbold.

Both vehicles traveled off the northwest corner of the intersection, where they came to rest.

Neither driver was injured. Burkhart was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

•A parking lot mishap occurred in the village of Archbold parking lot on the south side of the 100 block of East Holland St. about 12:14 pm, Saturday, Jan. 12.

A pickup truck, driven by Richard Dean Lesniak, 55, rural West Unity, was backing into a parking space and struck a parked car owned by Gene Waidelich, Archbold. No injuries.

•A minivan collided with a deer about 1 pm, Monday, Jan. 14, on St. Rt. 66 about 461 feet north of Co. Rd. A, a report states.

Frederick A. Johnson, 71, Archbold, was driving north on the highway, with passenger Linda Sue Flory, 68, Archbold, when they struck the deer. Johnson and Flory were not injured.

•A two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Stryker Street and North Defiance Street about 7:59 pm, Sunday, Jan. 13.

The report states a sport-utility vehicle, driven by Matthew John Weaver, 29, rural West Unity, was traveling east on Stryker Street, and was slowing in traffic, to allow an ambulance, traveling north on North Defiance Street to pass. A pickup truck, driven by Robert Fawcett, 59, Stanton, Tenn., was also traveling east on Stryker Street behind Weaver. They collided. No injuries. Fawcett was cited for failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead.

•Lauren Ashley Smith, 27, rural Archbold, was driving an SUV when it was involved in a crash about 5:59 pm, Wednesday, Jan. 16.

The report states Smith was backing in the village of Archbold parking lot east of the Archbold Community Library when she collided with a parked minivan owned by Muriel J. King, rural West Unity. No injuries.

•A small van owned by the village of Archbold was involved in a two-vehicle crash with a cargo van at the intersection of South Defiance Street and West Barre Road about 12:01 pm, Monday, Jan. 21.

The report states Alex Joseph Damman, 33, Archbold, was driving the village-owned vehicle north on South Defiance. Damman allegedly failed to stop for the traffic signal and struck a cargo van driven by Jamie D. Whitaker, 49, Alger. Whitaker was driving west on West Barre Road, and was attempting to turn left onto South Defiance Street.

Damman was cited for disobeying a traffic control device. No injuries.

•Danielle B. Welch, 43, Archbold, received a citation for failure to yield to a pedestrian at an intersection following an accident that occurred Friday, Jan. 25, about 7:40 am.

The report states Welch was driving a sport-utility vehicle east on Stryker Street, approaching the intersection at North Defiance Street. The traffic signal for eastbound traffic was red.

A pedestrian, Tyler A. Holcomb, 12, Archbold, was riding a scooter north on North Defiance Street and was approaching the intersection. Holcomb had a walk signal.

The report alleges Welch failed to notice Holcomb and struck the youth.

•Brayden Thomas Hall, 16, Archbold, received a citation for failure to control, following a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of South Defiance Street and West Barre Road about 11:20 pm Tuesday, Jan. 26.

The Archbold Police report states Hall as driving a sport-utility vehicle south on South on South Defiance Street with passenger Constance Grace Roell, 18, rural Liberty Center. Hall attempted to turn the vehicle left to go east on West Barre Road, when it slid on snow-covered roads and struck a traffic signal pole on the southeast corner of the intersection.

The report said Hall received possible injuries; Roell was not injured.

•A collision occurred at the Sauder Heritage Inn loading dock about 7:43 am, Sunday, Feb. 3.

The report states an SUV driven by Rebecca A. Kimpel, 55, rural Edgerton, was backing out of the loading dock and struck a parked SUV owned by Andrew J. Shafer, Archbold. No injuries.

•A two-vehicle collision occurred about 4:57 pm, Monday, Feb. 4, on Stryker Street, about 253 feet west of Franklin Street.

A car, driven by Tracy Wyse, 52, Archbold, with passenger Joan Wyse, 57, same address, was traveling west on Stryker Street when a pickup truck driven by Timothy E. Keller, 48, rural Liberty Center, backed out of a driveway. Wyse swerved into the eastbound lane in an attempt to avoid the pickup, but they collided.

There were no injuries. Keller was cited for improper backing.

•A sport-utility vehicle driven by Timothy L. Lange, 56, Thornville, collided with a building about 9:48 am, Tuesday, Feb. 5.

The report said Lange was backing in the area behind the building at 1205 South Defiance Street, owned by Raymond Childs, trustee. He struck a corner of the building. No injury.

•A two-vehicle crash occurred about 66 feet south of the intersection of North Defiance Street and Stryker Street about 4:01 pm Friday, Feb. 8.

Jacob M. Tijerina, 78, Archbold was driving a minivan south on North Defiance Street, when his vehicle was struck by a sport-utility vehicle driven by Rita A. McQuillin, 51, Archbold.

McQuillin was cited for failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead. Both drivers suffered possible injuries.
