A small airplane crashed near the Fulton County Airport Thursdsay evening, July 24, after experiencing engine trouble.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced in a press release that John Crisp, Sylvania, the pilot, was uninjured in the mishap.
The patrol states Crisp took off in the plane, which is described as a “2014 Airdrome personal aircraft” at about 7:44 pm.
After takeoff, the plane suffered a loss of engine power. Crisp was unable to return to the airport, and attempted to land in an open field.
“Upon landing, the landing grear sunk into sand and overturned the aircract,” the patrol report states.
Responding the the crash were Fulton County Sheriff Department deputies, a county rescue squad, and representatives of the Federal Aviation Administration.
OSHP officials said the FAA will conduct an investigation into the crash.–posted 10:17 am July 25
