Steven J. Torok, 23, Napoleon, was identified as the driver of a small pickup that knocked down a utility pole about 5:40 pm, Sunday, Aug. 13.
The Archbold police report states Torok was driving west on East Mechanic Street.
He told officers he was looking down to adjust the seat when he veered off the roadway to the right, went over the curb, struck a guywire for the utility pole, then the pole itself.
The report said the pole was broken into three pieces.
Three Toledo Edison electrical transformers mounted on the top of the pole fell to the ground. At least one ruptured, and a mineral oil material leaked onto the street.
A contractor hired by TE was on scene for several hours, cleaning up the spill.
Torok was not injured. He was cited for failure to control.
