PHS Volleyball Wins Fourth Straight

The Pettisville volleyball team enters the final week of regular-season competition riding a four-game win streak.

The Birds traveled to Fayette, Tuesday, Oct. 2, and came home with a 25-11, 25-17, 25-20 Buckeye Border Conference victory.

They were back on the road, Thursday, Oct. 4, to North Central. Pettisville improved to 10-9, 6-2 BBC with a 25-18, 25-21, 25-23 victory.

“We are looking forward to continuing to work hard and play our best ball going into tournament,” said John Horning, PHS head coach.

“The team has worked very hard since the beginning of August, and has been a great group to work with.

“We are hoping to stay healthy, fine-tune some areas, and see what happens.”

The Blackbirds served 21 aces and had 21 kills. Ashlynn Waidelich served seven aces; Jordyn Pursel, five; Emily Hubby, four; Dana Fricke, three; and Emily Eicher, two.

Waidelich had six kills; Hubby and Fricke each had four, and Devon Friend had three.

Hubby had six assists while Claire Fry had three.

The Pettisville junior varsity won 25-13, 26-24.

The Birds had 37 kills, and were led by Fricke with 12 and Hubby with 11. Waidelich and Pursel each had five.

Fry was 28-30 in setting with eight assists, and Hubby was 29-29 with nine assists. Eicher had two solo blocks; Waidelich, Friend, and Fricke each had one.

As a team, the Birds were 62-76 in serving with seven aces, 49-55 in serve reception, 60-62 in setting, and 87-114 in attacks.

The junior varsity improved to 15-4 with a 25-8, 25-10 victory.

Freshmen

Patrick Henry defeated Pettisville in a freshman game, 25-17, 11-25, 18-25, Thursday, Oct. 4.
