PHS Volleyball Goes 2-0




The Pettisville volleyball team opened its season with a tri-match against Patrick Henry and Columbus Grove at PHHS, Saturday, Aug. 27.

The Birds defeated the Patriots in two games, 25-9, 25-13.

Pettisville lost its first game against Columbus Grove 19-25, but came back to win the next two and the match 25-16, 25-19.

The Birds served seven aces, including four by Emily Hubby and one each by Lauren Frey, Natalie Hubby, and Kate Nofziger.

Katie Yoder had six of the team’s 21 kills. N. Hubby had five; Laura Rupp and Nofziger had three each. E. Hubby had two, while Frey and Dana Fricke each had one.

N. Hubby had two solo blocks. Rupp was 21-21 in setting, and E. Hubby was 16-16.

As a team, PHS was 35-48 in serving, 32-32 in setting, and 41-44 in attacks.

Pettisville won the junior varsity match 25-10, 25-10.

N. Hubby had four of the team’s six solo blocks. Yoder and E. Hubby each had one.

Frey served four aces, while E. Hubby served three and N. Hubby, two.

E. Hubby had seven of Pettisville’s 16 kills. Yoder had six; N. Hubby, five; Nofziger, two; Frey, Rupp, and Fricke, one each.
