PHS Track Teams Second In Dual Meet

The Pettisville track teams ran a dual meet with Liberty Center, Saturday, April 3.

It was held among high winds that blew over and damaged the pole vault equipment during the boys competition.

No one was injured when the standards fell, but one support bracket broke and the event was suspended.

Both PHS teams finished second. The girls team scored 52 to LC’s 84. The boys scored 32 to LC’s 93.

Girls

Kylee Garcia won both throwing events, while Amber Loar won the long jump. Stephanie Yoder took first in the pole vault.

Tanner Hostetler took the 1600-meter run and the 4×400-meter relay team (Brady Avina, Samantha Shinhearl, Rachel Beck, Amber Loar) won.

Discus:
1. Garcia, 89 feet, 11 inches; 3. Jenna Lemley, 82-9.

Shot put:
1. Garcia, 30-0; 2. Lemley, 26-10 1/2; 3. Erin Brakefield, 25-3.

High jump:
1. Yaney (LC), 4- 6; 2. Heidi Waidelich, Hubert (LC), Dickering 4-4 tie.

Long jump:
1. Loar, 13-1 1/2; 3. H. Waidelich, 12-4.

Pole vault:
1. S. Yoder, 8-6; 2. Rochefort and Borenben (LC), 7-6 tie.

100 hurdles:
1. Yancy (LC), 18.2 seconds; 2. Katie Yoder, 18.4; 3. Erin Fricke, 19.2.

1600:
1. Hostetler, 5:53.7.

300 hurdles:
1. Yancy, 55.4; 2. S. Yoder, 59.9; 3. E. Fricke, 1:01.2.

800:
1. Banochenski (LC), 2:39.2; 2. Annie Eicher, 2:57.7.

200:
1. Matheny (LC), 31.5; 2. Rochefort, 32.1.

4×400:
1. Pettisville (Avina, Shinhearl, Beck, Loar), 4:35.2.

Boys

In the boys meet Ben Holland won the high jump, and Lincoln Frey won the 800 and the 3200 runs.

The pole vault ended in a tie after being suspended. At the time of the incident, Lincoln Frey and Justin Pursel both had cleared 9 feet.

High jump:
1. Holland, 5-4; 3. Zach Davis, 4-10.

Long jump:
1. Rogowski (LC), 16-4 3/4; 2. Steven Young, 14-11 1/2; 3. Matt Storrer, 14-0 3/4.

Pole vault:
1. Frey and Pursel, 9-0.
