Fostoria Invitational

The Birds traveled to Fostoria for the Fostoria Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 5.

The girls team got its race in, but the boys varsity Black Division race was stopped approximately 12 minutes into the race due to severe weather.

“The course was very wet and muddy, which made for slower than usual times,” said Tom Wagner, PHS head coach.

“The Fostoria course has a rather large hill that was a sheet of mud.

“I was very proud of the kids’ performances. I think they enjoyed the mud and rain…. with the exception of the boys varsity Black Division, when the rain was coming down in sheets and flooding occurred, along with lightning.

“I felt bad for the boys in that race, as many of them had completed two miles already.”

The PHS girls finished seventh out of 13 teams, with 176 points.

Liberty Center won with 24, with their first five runners all placing in the top ten.

Mohawk was second with 80, and Hopewell-Loudon was third with 154.

Liberty Center’s Brittany Atkinson won in 19:22.
