PHS Softball Wins One, Loses Two

The Pettisville softball team (2-3, 1-3 BBC) completed three Buckeye Border Conference games last week, splitting a pair against North Central and falling to Hilltop.

A game with Holgate, Monday, April 10, was suspended after 6 1/2 innings due to weather.

NC 5, PHS 4

The Eagles traveled to Pettisville, Tuesday, April 11, and got out of town with a 5-4 victory.

North Central led 5-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. Pettisville scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning but fell 5-4.

Kyra Behnfeldt pitched a complete game, allowing five runs on seven hits, five strikeouts and no walks.

Sydney Purtee had two singles and a double; Andrea Flory had a pair of singles; and Kenzie Morgan and Sami Tilley each hit a double.

PHS 8, NC 7

Pettisville turned the tables on the Eagles at North Central, Thursday, April 13.

The two teams played another one-run game with the Blackbirds getting the comefrom behind 8-7 win.

The two teams were tied at 3 before North Central scored three runs in the fourth inning for a 6-3 lead.

Pettisville tied the score with three runs in the top of the sixth.

The Eagles took the lead back at 7-6 with a run in the bottom of the inning.

The Blackbirds scored twice in the seventh and prevented NC (4-2, 1-2 BBC) from scoring in the bottom of the inning for the win.

Behnfeldt got the win. She pitched seven innings and gave up seven runs on nine hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

Behnfeldt helped her own cause at the plate, getting a double and two singles.

Purtee had a double and single while Morgan had three singles.

Hilltop 15, PHS 5

The home field was not kind to Pettisville as they were handled by Hilltop 15- 5 in five innings, Saturday, April 15.

The Cadets (10-5, 6-0 BBC) scored in every inning and led 8-2 after two.

Behnfeldt took the loss, pitching four innings and giving up 13 runs on 14 hits with a strikeout and a walk.

Tilley and Morgan each had a double, while Behnfeldt had a pair of singles.
