Cassie Beck, a Pettisville High School junior, has been selected for the 2011 National Women’s Honor Choir, a choral group sponsored by the American Choral Directors Association.
Beck was one of 300 selected from more than 1,200 applicants. Applicants had to submit a digital audition recording, which judges used to select vocalists for the choir.
The National Honors Choir will perform in March at the National Conference of the ACDA in Chicago, Ill. The conference also will feature other concerts by choral groups from across the nation, and an international concert with groups from Taiwan, Canada, and Latvia.
Beck has previously been selected for the All-County Choir and for District Honors Choir, which includes high school singers from Williams, Fulton, Henry, Defiance, Lucas, and Wood counties.
Beck is a member of the PHS choir. She submitted the audition for the national choir at the suggestion of Duane Beck, choir director.
She is the daughter of Tom and Jamie, rural Pettisville.
She is scheduled to graduate this spring, and plans to attend Taylor University, Upland, Ind.–D.J. Neuenschwander
