Brian Waidelich, a 2007 Pettisville High School graduate, is participating in the Ministry Inquiry Program at Goshen (Ind.) College.
The son of John and Sherri, Wauseon, Brian is a first-year English major. He is spending 11 weeks at New Hope Fellowship in Alexandria, Va., where he will work with local pastors.
The Ministry Inquiry Program, or MIP, allows students from Mennonite colleges to test their calling and gifts for the ministry by serving as pastoral interns.
They take on worship, pastoral care, and administrative roles during the term. Their duties range from preaching to hospital and home visits.
Those who participate can take a one credit-hour course, and receive up to $1,500 toward tuition for the next year in addition to a $500 stipend.
