The Pettisville golf team was winless last week in four league and non-league matches.
The Blackbirds lost both ends of a tri-match with Montpelier and Archbold at Wauseon, Monday, Aug. 27. Archbold won the match with a team score of 165. Montpelier totaled 199, while Pettisville had a 212.
Logan Frey led Pettisville with a 49.
Pettisville traveled to Morenci, Mich., Tuesday, Aug. 28 to play Fayette in a Buckeye Border Conference match. Caleb Brinegar shot a 38 for Fayette, leading the Eagles to a 188-209 victory.
Frey had a 49 and Jared Avina, a 50, for PHS.
Hilltop arrived at Wauseon, Thursday, Aug. 30 for Pettisville’s second BBC match of the week. The Cadets prevailed 212-225, winning their first match of the season.
Hilltop’s Brandon Norris had the best nine holes of the day with a 48. Frey shot a 50 for PHS.
“It is frustrating to start 0- 2 in the BBC and 0-7 for the season,” said Ed Bracken, PHS coach. “We still have six matches, an invitational, and plenty of practice time until the BBC tournament on Sept. 21.
“I have been seeing some improvement and if it continues, we’ll win some of those matches and be ready for the BBCs.”
