PHS Girls Open Season With Three Losses

The Pettisville girls basketball team opened its 2019 season with losses to Edon, Edgerton, and Montpelier, to start 0-3, 0-2 in the Buckeye Border Conference.

Edon 30, PHS 11

The Birds played their season and BBC opener at Edon, Friday, Nov. 22.

PHS led 7-4 after one, but trailed 14-12 at the half. A scoreless third quarter allowed Edon to jump out to a 24-12 advantage before a relatively even fourth resulted in the 30-11 Bombers win.

Pettisville’s Jessica Mc- Watters led all scorers, with 10 of the Birds’ 11 points.

Riley Bloir led Edon, with nine.

Edgerton 49, PHS 32

The Bird Cage was the site of Pettisville’s non-league contest with Edgerton, Saturday, Nov. 23.

Once again, PHS led after one, 13-9, but was down 24- 21 at the half and 37-27 after three.

McWatters again led all scorers, with 17 points, in- cluding four three-pointers. Mikayla Graber was also in double figures, with 11.

Emma Siebenaler led a trio of Bulldogs in double figures, with 14 points. Rylei Moreno finished with 11 and Ally Cape scored 10.

Montpelier 55, PHS 30

Pettisville was back on the road, Tuesday, Nov. 26, to Montpelier.

Leading 26-15 at the half, the Locomotives (2-0, 2-0 BBC) outscored PHS in every quarter on their way to a 55-30 BBC victory.

McWatters was the only Blackbird in double figures, with 13 points.

Ali Repp led the Locos, with 14 points. Emily Fritsch added 12 and Ariel Page scored 10.
