PHS Falls To Fayette

The Pettisville girls basketball team dropped its fifth straight game with a 43-31 loss at Fayette, Friday, Jan. 3.

The Birds dropped to 2-8, 2-4 in the Buckeye Border Conference. Fayette (6-3) and Edon (6-5) are tied at the top of the BBC standings with 5-1 league records.

The Eagles led 13-7 after one, 21-14 at the half, and 27-24 after three, before outscoring the Birds 16-7 in the fourth quarter for the 12- point margin of victory.

Jessica McWatters led PHS, with 19 points, including three three-pointers. Mikayla Graber added 10 points and hit Pettisville’s other two treys.

Fayette’s Trista Fruchey led all scorers, with 22 points.

The Eagles won the rebounding battle 35-23. PH committed 12 turnovers to only three for Fayette.
