The Pettisville cross country teams competed Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Tiffin Carnival, the second-largest high school cross country meet in the nation.
Top finisher for the Birds was Tanner Hostetler. She ran the 3.1-mile course in 20 minutes, four seconds to finish 17th out of 354 girls in the Division III race.
Team rankings for the Pettisville teams saw the girls team scoring 661 points, finishing 21st out of 53 teams. West Liberty-Salem won the race with 174.
The PHS boys finished 34th with 848. Delta boys won the boys D III-A race with 176.
In the girls race, the second Blackbird runner to finish was Brady Avina. She crossed the finish line at 21:46 to take 118th. Samantha Shinhearl covered the course in 22:33 and finished 159th.
Lexie King finished 183rd in 22:56. The last scoring runner for PHS was Amber Loar, who finished 201st in 23:14.
Heidi Waidelich finished 306th in 26:57 and Taylore Lantz was 323rd in 27:46.
The top finisher for the Pettisville boys was Dominic Frey. He finished 88th in 18:05. Next in was Tanner Rufenacht, who was 99th in 18:12.
Aaron Bruner ran a 19:05 race to finish 159th. Josh Borton finished 248th in 21:11. Justin Pursel rounded out the scoring for the Birds, finishing 254th in 21:27.
Zach Davis finished 268th in 23:08 and Austin Dykstra was 271st in 24:22.
Three Pettisville boys competed in the Division III open race: 188. Alex Donnett, 26:59; 190. Logan Beck, 27:29; 191. Nathan Beck, 27:30.
