Pettisville, Stryker High Schools Award Diplomas To 92 Sunday




Pettisville and Stryker high schools will hand out 92 diplomas, Sunday, May 25.

Stryker High School holds its graduation starting at 2 pm; ceremonies begin at Pettisville at 2:30 pm.

Archbold High School holds its graduation, Sunday, June 1; complete information will appear in the next issue of this newspaper.

Pettisville

Pettisville will graduate 49 members of the Class of 2008. Sixteen graduates are members of the National Honor Society, and 16 have earned an Ohio Honors Diploma.

After Barbara Rufenacht plays “Pomp and Circumstance,” Jodi Spotts, class president, will welcome guests.

Duane Beck, director of the school choir, will lead the choir in “Omnia Sol.”

Stephen Switzer, district superintendent, will introduce Rebecca Dadisman, English instructor. She will deliver the commencement address.

Michael Lane, PHS principal, will introduce the first class speaker, Anna Borton.

Choir members from the Class of 2008 will perform “Come So Far (Got So Far To Go).”

Matthew Dougherty and Michael Ferguson will also address the audience as class speakers.

Richard Reid, Spanish instructor and the school’s National Honor Society advisor, will present class members with scholarships, and Lane will present awards.

John King, school board president, and Daniel Bruner, vice president, will present diplomas.

Cale Spencer, class member, will give closing remarks, then the PHS choir performs, “The Lord Bless You and Keep You.”

Serving as escorts are Jordan Klopfenstein, junior class president, and Michael Haase, junior class vice president.

Following a decades-long tradition, members of the audience may greet graduating class members on the lawn north of the original school building after the ceremony.

Stryker

At Stryker High School, 43 class members will receive diplomas.

Ten members of the Class of 2008 will receive the Ohio Honors Diploma.

The graduation ceremony starts with Dustin Maroon, SHS band director, playing “Fanfare and Processional,” followed by an invocation, scripture reading, and sermonette by Crystal Goodnight.

Laurin Waidelich, senior, will give the salutatorian address, followed by the SHS band playing “Silver Jubilee Overture.”

Stacy Kinkaid, class valedictorian, will speak, followed by Cory Sullivan, class president, introducing Maurice Zuver, a high school teacher, who will give the commencement address.

Denise Meyer, SHS principal, will the present the class.

Nate Johnson, superintendent, will give remarks and Goodnight will give the benediction. The band will play the recessional “Men of Ohio.”

Graduates and members of the audience will gather on the front lawn after the ceremony.
