The Pettisville school board is accepting bids through June 21 for a new 84-passenger transit-style bus.
The bus issue was discussed at the board’s Monday, June 10 meeting.
District officials will trade in bus No. 4.
After some discussion, it was decided to trade in bus Number 10 as well.
The board was offered the option of trading bus No. 1, a 1989 model, or bus No. 10, a 1997 model. Although the 1997 bus is eight years newer, problems have abounded with the vehicle since the district purchased it.
“I think we’ll make our bus drivers happy if we trade that one in,” said Steve Switzer, superintendent.
“I thought it was interesting to note that in a comparison between the two buses, there is only a penny difference in the cost of operation. I think we need to keep the one with the better track record.”
The board is also accepting bids for the South Field project. The project will replace the athletic fields lost to the building project.–Pam Graber
