The Pettisville School Board took action on several coaching positions during its Monday, April 11 meeting.
In a move that was announced earlier, Greg Nofziger stepped down as head coach of the boys basketball program.
As a result, the board chose to non-renew several other coaching positions at the school. The goal is to allow the newly hired coach to have a say in who serves on the coaching team.
Scott Rupp, junior varsity coach; Justin Rufenacht, freshman coach; Michael Schrock, eighth grade coach; and Brian Rufenacht, seventh grade coach, all had their coaching contracts non-renewed while waiting for the hiring of Nofziger’s replacement.
Steven Switzer, superintendent, said the school has received seven applications to fill the head coaching position.
Stan Roth submitted his resignation as junior high soccer coach, a position he held for the past 15 years.
Roth, along with the other two longtime Pettisville soccer coaches, Dick Nyce and Barnaby Wyse, helped grow and develop the soccer program.–D.J. Neuenschwander
