The Pettisville chapter of the National Honor Society welcomed 19 new members at its annual Induction Ceremony, Monday evening, Nov. 17, at the school.

This year’s new members are Kendahl Baer, Alyssa Borton, Michael Deffely, Ashley Eicher, Lincoln Frey, Lynae Fry, Michael Haase, Erica King, Harrison King, Christopher Matthews, Mackenzie Nofziger, Brian Plank, Laura Rochefort, Ellen Roth, Lauren Roth, Chelsea Schmucker, Alyx Smith, Krista Spiess, and Greg Waidelich.

The ceremony included music presented by the Pettisville Jazz Band and a welcome by Alyssa Beck, NHS president.

Richard Reid, NHS advisor, made opening remarks, and then current NHS members talked about each of the qualities that make up the selection criteria of the national society.

The new members heard definitions of character, service, love, scholarship, and leadership. Each quality was compared to an ingredient in a pizza, such as the crust, sauce, cheese, toppings and box.

Each inductee was challenged to continue to display the five qualities in their school, community, and family.

Michael Lane, Pettisville High School principal, congratulated the students on achieving the honor.- D.J. Neuenschwander
