Pettisville Golf Beats Holgate, Hilltop

Pettisville and Holgate tied with identical scores of 192 in a golf match, Monday, Sept. 10, at Defiance, but the Birds still won.

By rule, the match goes to the fifth golfer’s score on each team. Pettisville’s 53 beat Holgate’s 63, so the Birds came away with the victory.

Ty Herschberger was low man for Pettisville with a 43. Evan King shot a 46, and Matt Krill shot a 50. Reed Behnfeldt and Greg Kempf each shot 53s, and Ben Graber shot a 63.

Holgate’s Landon Grim was match medalist with a low score of 39.

PHS 191, Hilltop 206

The Birds hosted Hilltop, Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Wauseon, and defeated the Cadets by 15 strokes for their second straight victory.

Herschberger was match medalist with a 43 as no Cadet broke 50.

Kempf finished with a 47, Krill shot a 48, and King finished with a 53.

Behnfeldt and Ben Graber each shot a 57.

Three Hilltop golfers shot 50s as low men on their team.

Tinora 160, PHS 199, Hilltop 202

Pettisville hosted a trimeet with the Rams and Cadets, Thursday, Sept. 13.

The Rams won easily with a team score of 160. Alec Frank was match medalist with a round of 38.

The Birds finished with a team score of 199. Herschberger was low man for PHS with a 43. King shot a 49, while Behnfeldt shot a 50. Kempf and Graber each shot 57s, and Krill finished with a 59.
