The Pettisville volleyball team won the Div. IV district championship at Napoleon, Saturday, Oct. 25.
The Birds won the first two games 25-23, 25-19, lost the next two 25-9, 25-14, and then took the fifth 15-11.
It is only the third time in school history the volleyball team has advanced to the regional. The first time they went was in 1997, where they lost to Kalida in the semifinal.
The last time they went was in 2002, when they beat Riverdale in the semifinal 12-15, 15-9, 15-1 to advance to the regional final for the first time ever. They lost to Old Fort 15-6, 15-5 in the regional championship match, finishing 24-3 that season.
The Birds (17-7) play Leipsic (23-2), Wednesday, Oct. 29, 6 p.m. in a regional semifinal at Elida. Leipsic defeated Carey in the district final at Findlay on Saturday.–Posted 10.25, 9:48 p.m.
