Pettisville Boys Win BBC Title

The Pettisville boys cross country team claimed the Buckeye Border Conference championship at the final BBC Jamboree, Thursday, Oct. 4, at Edon.

The PHS girls team finished third behind Fayette and North Central.

The PHS boys finished with 34 points to Hilltop’s 58. Stryker was third with 60.

“We had a very competitive league this year,” said Tom Wagner, Pettisville coach. “I was pleased our boys did so well against some tough competition.”

Alex Frey won the race and was named league most valuable player. The First Team All- BBC pick ran in 17 minutes, 40 seconds.

Austin Borton was third in 17:57 and Lincoln Frey was seventh in 18:37. Both were named First Team All-BBC.

Jacob Nofziger was 10th in 19:13. The final scoring runner for Pettisville was Brandon Hamilton; he was 13th in 19:31. He was named Second Team All-BBC.

Other Pettisville runners, their times and places: 31. Josh Villalovos, 20:49; 34. Josh Bruner, 21:04; 40. Harris King, 22:08; 44. Trevor Lantz, 22:17; 52. Preston Lantz, 22:44.

Girls

Rachel Beck led the Blackbirds, taking eighth in 24:13. She was named First Team All- BBC for her placement in the three league meets.

Emily Short was 15th in 26:08; Alisha Rupp followed Short into the chute, finishing 16th in 26:29. She was named Second Team All-BBC.

Jackie Morrill and Morgan Lantz took 17th and 18th, respectively, in 26:47 and 26:49. Both were named Third Team All-BBC, as was Hannah Beck, who was 20th in 27:09.

Other PHS runners: Taylore Lantz, 22nd, 27:10; Kayla King, 25th, 28:01; Alexa Short, 26th, 28:09.

Fostoria Invite

The Pettisville boys team placed four runners in the top 25 to take 3rd out of 15 teams at the Fostoria Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 7. Gibsonburg placed first; Sandusky Central Catholic, second.

The girls placed 10th in their division.

A. Frey raced to a secondplace finish in 16:51. Gibsonburg’s Jordan Kirwen won in 16:44.

Borton took fifth in 17:00. L. Frey was 15th in 17:52; Hamilton, 25th, 18:29; Bruner, 62nd, 20:05.

Other Pettisville runners: Villalovos, 67th, 20:21; T. Lantz, 86th, 21:01; King, 99th, 21:42; P. Lantz, 107th, 22:14.

In the girls division, R. Beck finished 47th in 23:35. E. Short was 56th in 24:24; Morrill, 69th, 25:30; M. Lantz, 75th, 25:58; T. Lantz, 78th, 26:04.

Other Pettisville runners: H. Beck, 79th, 26:18; Rupp, 84th, 26:35; A. Short, 95th, 28:39; King, 96th, 28:44.
