The Pettisville boys cross country team finished fifth out of 15 teams in the high school boys small division at the Van Wert County Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 22.
The PHS girls team finished 12th out of 13 teams.
Minster won the race with a team score of 42 points. Columbus Grove was second with 63, and Lincolnview was third with 107.
Crestview finished fourth with 116, and the Birds were fifth with 129.
Dominic Frey was the first Bird to finish. He was ninth in 17 minutes, 11 seconds.
Tanner Rufenacht was next, placing 12th in 17:24. Jeremy Mann was 24th in 17:50, and Tim Iott was 40th in 18:28. Jacob Hauter finished the team scoring, placing 47th in 18:32.
Columbus Grove’s Jake Graham won in 16:24.

Minster dominated the girls race with 17 points, taking five of the top six places and finishing within 37 seconds of each other.
Spencerville was second with 105, and Edgerton was third with 128.
Pettisville had 269 points.
Samantha Shinhearl crossed the finish line first for PHS, placing 50th in 23:17. Grace Friend was 56th in 23:30, and Taylor D’Alelio was 70th in 24:37. Amber Dykstra was 86th in 25:33.
Jaelyn Rufenacht was the final scoring runner for PHS, placing 92nd in 25:45.
Minster’s Julia Slonkosky won in 19:42.
