Pettisville Boys 10th At Sectional Golf

The Pettisville boys golf team finished its season at the Division III tournament, Thursday, Sept. 28, at Eagle Rock Golf Club, Defiance.

The Birds finished 10th as a team with a score of 390.

Liberty-Benton won the sectional title with 330. Kalida took second with 332, and Antwerp was third with 368.

The top three teams and three individuals not on a qualifying team advanced to the district tournament. Tommy McWatters, a freshman, placed 12th and finished with an 89 to lead the Birds, one shot behind Fairview’s Logan Hetrick, who qualified for district with an 88.

Max Leppelmeier tied for 38th with a 99. Graeme Jacoby tied for 41st with a 100. Austin Horning placed 51st with a 102. Caleb Nafziger tied for 56th with a 106.

Tinora 166, PHS 193, Hicksville 199, Fairview 206

In their final regular-season match, the Birds placed second in a quad match with Tinora, Hicksville, and Fairview, Monday, Sept. 25, at Eagle Rock.

McWatters was low man for PHS, shooting a 46. Leppelmeier shot a 47; Nafziger had a 49; and A. Horning and Jacoby each finished with a 51. Josh Horning shot a 54.

Tinora’s Colin Derrow was match medalist with a 37.
