Parked Car, Pole Struck




A parked car and a utility pole were struck in separate accident reports filed with Archbold police.

A sport-utility vehicle, driven by Riah Short, 16, Archbold, with passenger Lucia Rodriguez, 15, 401 High Street, was backing out of the driveway at the High Street address when she struck a car parked across the street owned by Josue Alberto Luna, 402 High Street.

The mishap occurred about 6:12 pm, Friday, Feb. 22. Short was cited for improper backing. No injuries.

A semi driven by Nicole Lynn Walters, 36, rural Hicksville, struck a utility pole on the southeast corner of the South Defiance Street-West Barre Road intersection about 10:05 am, the same day, a police report said.

The semi, owned by Mathers Trucking, LLC, rural Hicksville, was traveling north on South Defiance Street, and attempted to make a right turn to go east on West Barre Road. In doing so, she turned improperly and struck the pole, owned by Toledo Edison.

Walters was cited for an improper turn. No injury.
