Ohio State Highway Patrol officials announced in a press release that an unidentified person was killed in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of St. Rt. 109 and US20 about 2:30 pm Wednesday, July 5.
Patrol officials are withholding the deceased’s name pending notification of next of kin.
The crash occurred when Raymond Jacobsen, 68, Worth, Ill., was driving a car north on St. Rt. 109, with the unidentified victim riding as a passenger. A mini-pickup truck, driven by Christopher Kime, 39, Delta, was traveling west on US20.
The patrol press release states the Jacobsen auto failed to yield the right-of-way to the pickup, and the two vehicles collided in the intersection.
Jacobsen’s passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Jacobsen was taken by helicopter ambluance to the Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, with serious injuries. Kime was was not injured.
All involved were wearing seat belts. The crash is still under identification.–posted 7.5, 10:10 pm
Update: OSHP officials have released the identity of the man killed in the crash. He was Allan Fletcher, 69, of Oaklawn, Ill. Raymond Jacobsen was released from St. V’s Friday morning, July 6–posted 7.7, 11:10am
