A fire, attributed to faulty wiring, destroyed the Lugbill Bros. sale barn on December 10, 1943. There were no injuries and only a few animals were lost. For the next 15 months, livestock auctions were held in another company barn until 1945, when a new building was finished being constructed at the original site. Photos of Lugbill’s sale barn before and after the fire are from Roger Short, Stryker.
