Railroad crossing guards found shelter from weather in the small building at the North Defiance Street NYC railroad crossing. Men were hired to guard the crossing during business hours to protect motorists and pedestrians. The wood frame building at left belonged to Eicher & Son. Today the

property site houses Archbold fire equipment.- The
