Nothing Is Wrong With Kids Today

It’s the eternal question of adults. As Paul Lynde asked in the 1963 musical, Bye Bye Birdie, “What’s the matter with kids today?”

Answer: nothing. Archbold and Pettisville boys and girls prove time and time again they are outstanding young people. They have a bright future.

Here is proof. Recently, members of the Archbold High School football team were in the news, not for success on the gridiron, but in the classroom.

The combined grade point averages of 22 team members earned them All-Ohio academic honors. They were third overall in all Ohio schools. Three members were named Academic All-Ohio. Several had perfect 4.0 GPAs.

The volleyball team achieved a scholastic team award recognizing their classroom achievements.

Four girls from AHS entered a scholarship contest because they thought it might be fun- and so impressed the judges, a second-place award was created just for them.

Add eight district-wide excellent rankings for Archbold Area Schools by the Ohio Department of Education on ODE school district report cards.

Pettisville students should not be overlooked. Several PHS students have advanced to the state level in science fair competition.

The school district earned the federal government’s Blue Ribbon School title. Pettisville was named a school of distinction by the Ohio Superintendent of Public Instruction, and the school earned the excellent ranking as well.

Those are just a few honors our local students have earned.

Such achievements are not accidental. They are the result of hard work, good parents, good families, good churches, good schools, and good communities.

When our boys and girls do well, everyone is proud.
