Norman Richard Riegsecker Sr.

Norman Richard Riegsecker Sr., age 78 years, of Lake Worth, Fla., and formerly of Archbold, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, Fla.

He was born March 13, 1930, near Archbold, a son of Albert and Leah (Smead) Riegsecker, and married Ruth Carole Francis on July 1, 1950. They lived in the Archbold area and he worked at Sauder Woodworking in Plant Engineering until 1968, when they moved to West Palm Beach, Fla.

There, he worked at RCA in Plant Engineering and Plant Water Management.

Norman is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth; one son, Norman (Shirley) Riegsecker, Jr., of Seattle, Wash.; four daughters, Judith of Jupiter, Fla., Barbara of Greenacres, Fla., Anita of Rochester, Mich., and Janet of Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.; four grandchildren, Heather, Heidi, Sharon, and Matthew; one brother, Darold of Boston, Mass.; two sisters, Donnabelle Burkholder of Archbold, and Carol (Tom) Macey of Cypress, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sharon Riegsecker.

Services will be held on Friday, June 13, at 2:30 p.m. at the Archbold Evangelical Mennonite Church with Pastors Stuart Rex and Charles Gautsche officiating. Interment will follow in the Eckley Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.

Short Funeral Home in Archbold is in charge of the arrangements.

The family suggests memorials to the Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation.
