David Deskins, Archbold Area School District superintendent, said the only development in the district wind turbine project was there are no new developments.
In response to a question from Tony Warncke, board member, Deskins told board members at the Monday, March 15 meeting, district officials are still waiting for word from the Ohio Department of Development about how $750,000 in federal economic stimulus grant money will be distributed.
“We’ve had no communication out of the (Ohio) Department of Development,” Deskins said. ODOD is administering the grant money.
Plus, Deskins said there has been some talk that the state may take back some grant money that’s been awarded, but not spent. That endangers a $250,000 grant shared by the Pettisville and Archbold school districts.
Plus, if state officials are talking about taking money back, what does that mean for an additional $200,000 grant the school is seeking?
Warncke asked Deskins about when the district should begin communicating information about the wind turbine project to citizens.
Deskins said he did not want to start that process until the grant money is secure, but Warncke said he didn’t want to wait too long and flood citizens with too much information.
