Newspapers Endure

Archbold Buckeye Committed To Local News Now And In The Future

This is National Newspaper Week, when the unique role newspapers play in America is celebrated.

The demise of the newspaper has been predicted for decades. Yet, newspapers still exist.

Why is that? Why hasn’t the Archbold Buckeye, and newspapers across the nation, rolled over and died, as the pundits said they would?

The answer is news. Nobody covers Archbold and the surrounding area as intensely as the Buckeye. Not Google. Not Yahoo. Not Microsoft.

You won’t find CNN at Archbold school board meetings. Fox News doesn’t report the Archbold police. The New York Times isn’t at Archbold

or Pettisville sports events.

Newspapers, like every industry, have been challenged by these dark economic times. The Buckeye is no exception.

Just like other newspapers, the Buckeye is changing and adapting to the challenges.

One thing will never change. The Buckeye will not forsake its commitment to covering Archbold, Pettisville, and Ridgeville Corners.

The Buckeye has reported the news of Archbold and the surrounding area and its people for more than a century.

That will never end.
