Few details are available, but Archbold police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the village Monday night, April 25.
A victim with a reported gunshot wound was discovered on the sidewalk in front of the Beck Insurance Building, 120 North Defiance Street, about 9:40 pm. An officer on the scene requested Archbold Rescue to respond.
Police and fire-rescue radio traffic stated the victim was taken to the Archbold Medical Center, where the person was put aboard a helicopter ambulance, then flown to the Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.

Archbold Police issued a press release at about 11:25 pm, stating the gunshot wound, “appeared to be self-inflicted.”
The release states:
“On Monday, April 25, 2016 at about 9:18 pm, while on patrol, an officer of the Archbold Police Department found a 58-year-old male subject laying on the sidewalk at the corner of North Defiance Street and Depot Street with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the left shoulder.
“The subject was transproted by Life Flight to Toledo.
“The investigation is ongoing.”
