Brandon P. Bailey, 25, Napoleon, was arrested early Sunday morning, Nov. 19, on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, an Archbold police report states.
Police were called to the residence of Erika L. Hernandez, 25, Colony Meadows, about 5:02 am that day.
Hernandez said a relative who had been visiting walked into the bedroom where she and her husband were, and stated he was taking their minivan. Before the couple could react, the relative, and the van, were gone.
An officer determined where the suspect may have been going, and alerted Napoleon police, who, in turn, informed the Henry County Sheriff Department.
A Henry County sheriff deputy located the van outside Napoleon on Henry Co. Rd. 14B near Henry Co. Rd. R.
Henry County officials secured the vehicle and arrested the suspect, identified as Bailey, on an initial charge of theft of a motor vehicle.
The Archbold officer wrote in his report he met a Henry County deputy, who transferred Bailey to APD custody. Bailey was taken to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio, where he was booked into the jail on the unauthorized use charge.
Bailey appeared for arraignment in Western District Court by video link from CCNO on Tuesday, Nov. 21. He was released on his own recognizance.
