Total collections for the village of Archbold 1.5% municipal income tax for 2019 topped the 2018 total collection by about a half of a percentage point.
Donna Dettling, village administrator, told village council at its Monday, Jan. 6, meeting, the final income tax report for 2019 was “really, really good news.”
Total collections for 2019 were $4,665,941.39, which was $21,628.58, or 47 one-hundredths (.47%) of a percentage point more than 2018.
Collections for December 2019 were $334,991.50, down 2.37% compared to December 2018.
The 2019 figure is down from the record year of 2016 by more than $270,000. The 2016 collection was $4,936,066.89, but it was pointed out at the time a change in state law regarding municipal income tax collection impacted the figure.
In the history of the Archbold municipal income tax (1967-2019), the tax has raised more than $130 million.
“As we struggle with shopping lists and invitations, compounded by December’s bad weather, it is good to be reminded that there are people in our lives who are worth this aggravation, and people to whom we are worth the same.”–Donald E. Westlake
