Municipal Income Tax Back In The Black

After running behind throughout the first quarter of 2013, the Village of Archbold municipal income tax collection exceeded the amount collected for the same time period in 2012.

Archbold Village Council was given that information at its Monday, May 6 meeting.

The January collection was close to $100,000 behind the amount collected in January 2012.

While the monthly collections for February and March were both ahead, the year-to-date total lagged behind.

In April, the 1.5% income tax brought in $361,422.17, which was $2,396.19, or 8.75%, more than the collection for April 2012.

That pushed the 2013 year-to-date collection to $1,288,448.02, $17,863.02, or 1.4%, more than the same period in 2012.

After peaking in 2006 with a total collection of almost $4.88 million, the municipal income tax brought in less money through 2010, mir- roring the downturn in the economy.

Collections hit a low in 2010, at about $3.45 million.

In 2011, collections began to turn around, coming in at $3.53 million in 2011 and $3.69 in 2012.
