Mildred L. Smith, age 97 years, of Archbold, passed away Wednesday morning, June 26, 2013, at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon.
She was born May 25, 1916, in Williams County’s Center Township, the daughter of Thomas and Lola (Munday) Luke.
She married Richard J. Smith on March 22, 1952, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1979.
A resident of Archbold since 1933, she worked at LaChoy Food Products in Archbold for 30 years before retiring in 1979.
She enjoyed cooking for her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
She is survived by two children, Carolyn (Gary) Fidler of Archbold and Michael (Beverly) Grime of New Bern, N.C.; five grandchildren, Jeff Fidler, David Fidler, Tim Fidler, Amy Morr, and Stacy Grime; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lorene King and Helen Taylor, both of Bryan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Ronald Grime; a greatgrandson, Adam Fidler; six brothers, Dale, Dean, Seland, Donald, Gerald and Kenneth Luke; and two sisters, Lucille Gurwell and Marjorie Baker.
Graveside services were held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Brown Cemetery at Bryan with Rev. Charles Gautsche officiating.
Short Funeral Home in Archbold was entrusted with the arrangements.
