Merrill G. Nofziger

Merrill G. Nofziger, age 76 years, of Archbold, passed away from melanoma, late Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, surrounded by his family.

He was born Aug. 24, 1935, near Wauseon. He was the son of Lloyd and Ilva (Beck) Nofziger.

He is survived by his wife, Marcile (Rupp) Nofziger, whom he married on Jan. 16, 1955.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Kurt (Connie Roth) Nofziger of Wauseon, Kristine Nofziger of Oak Brook, Ill., and Kay (Jeff) Miller of Goshen, Ind.; five grandchildren; Blake (Autumn) Nofziger, of Findlay, Haley Nofziger of Wauseon, Jared Miller, Joshua Miller and Hans Miller of Goshen, Ind.; one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Nofziger of Findlay; four brothers and a sister, Richard (Jenny) Nofziger and Ron (Marlene) Nofziger, both of Archbold, Dorwin (Ilene) Nofziger of Wauseon, Jerry (Shari) Nofziger of Goshen, Ind., and Cheryl (George) Karagiorge of Perrysburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A lifelong resident of the Wauseon/Archbold area he was a business partner of M&R Redi Mix, Inc. in Pettisville.

Merrill was known for enjoying life to the fullest in all circumstances. He was an active member of the West Clinton Mennonite Church his entire life and served in many capacities, such as: elder, Sunday School teacher, song leader, church choir and various quartets.

He served on the following boards: Fulton County Health Center, Fairlawn Haven, Little Eden and WPOS FM.

He was a member of Gideon’s International for many years and recently enjoyed volunteering at Care and Share in Archbold.

A celebration of Merrill’s life was held on Sunday, May 6, 2012, at 5 p.m. at the West Clinton Mennonite Church, 18029 County Rd. C., Wauseon, OH, with Pastor Jess Engle officiating. Interment was at Pettisville Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorials be given to Gideon’s International, Fairlawn Haven Building Fund and Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).
