Melba F. Schnitkey, age 87 years, of Archbold, passed away Sunday afternoon, Sept. 6, 2015, at Fairlawn Haven in Archbold.
She was born Aug. 30, 1928, at West Unity, the daughter of Walter and Nora (Smith) Nofzinger.
She married Charles “Til” Schnitkey on Aug. 30, 1947, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2009.
A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, she was a homemaker and was employed by the Archbold Area Schools.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, playing cards, quilting and baking.
Melba was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Archbold, and participated in many activities at church.
She is survived by three sons, Scott (Deb), Stuart (Jackie), and Sid (Joy), all of Archbold; a daughter-in-law, Karen Schnitkey of Archbold; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne (Shan) Nofzinger of Stryker and two sisters, Claudine Arnold of Archbold and Myrtle Henricks of Montpelier.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steve; brothers, Clayton, Jess, twin brother Melvin, and Willard; sisters Arlene Fausey and Bernita Figy.
Services will be held today, Wednesday, at 10 a.m. at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Reichert officiating. Interment will be in the Archbold Cemetery.
Short Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with the arrangements.
