Maxine Virginia (Aeschliman) Thomas passed from her earthly home to her eternal reward on May 11, 2010, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home, in Archbold, surrounded by her family.
Maxine was born in Fulton County Ohio, to Ben and Mary (Conrad) Aeschliman on Jan. 11, 1931. She married Sanford Thomas on Nov. 14, 1953.
Maxine lived most of her life in Northwest Ohio, while working at LaChoy Foods, Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home, Country Squire Restaurant and then retiring from Sauder Woodworking Co. in 1993.
Maxine and Sanford spent many years wintering in Florida. They also spent many hours volunteering at Care and Share and Fulton County Senior Center.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Sanford; three daughters, Bonnie (Steve) Heatwole, Becky (Reid) Short, and Audrey (Scott) Burkholder, all of Archbold; eight grandchildren, Roy-Al (Becky) Short, Ruby (Nick) Leininger, Rob (Emily) Short, Sara Heatwole, Eddie (Rachelle) Burkholder, Ben Heatwole, Reilly Short, and Katy Burkholder; seven greatgrandchildren, Riah Short, Rustin Short, Emma Leininger, Caden Leininger, Zachary Short, Collin Short and Mason Leininger; a brother, Waldo (Barb) Aeschliman, of Archbold; and a sister, Martha Schmucker of Albany, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Elton, Ora, and Ellis Aeschliman; and two sisters, Ruth Schmucker, and infant Lorene Aeschliman.
Visitation for Maxine will be held at Short Funeral Home in Archbold from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, May 21.
Funeral services will be held at Central Mennonite Church on Saturday, May 22, at 11 a.m. with Pastors Steve Heatwole, Bill Holsopple, and Reid Short officiating. Interment will follow in the Pettisville Cemetery.
