Mary Short Award Goes To Ed Mooney

Ed Mooney, Continental, will receive the Mary Short Memorial Award from Archbold Community Theatre, Monday, Oct. 8, 2007.

The award is presented during the annual meeting at Giffey Hall, Ridgeville Corners.

Mooney became involved in ACT several years ago when his son, Ryan, was one of the brothers in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat”. He volunteered to usher.

Over the years, Mooney has acted, worked on the stage crew, ushered, and built sets. He has also directed and produced ACT productions.

Mooney says the most fulfilling thing about ACT is working with people. “The first time I walked into the theatre, people made me feel welcome and treated me as family. That’s why I keep coming back,” said Mooney.

The Short award honors the late Mary Short (Mrs. Theron). She and her husband were among the early ACT members who helped form the group. She did everything from performing, building sets, directing, advertising, and finding clothing for performers.
