Marvin J. Nafziger

Marvin J. Nafziger, age 75 years, of Archbold, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 25, 2009, at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born July 1, 1933, near Archbold, the son of Harry J. and Rosa (Short) Nafziger, and married Vicki Mack Frank on April 8, 1994.

He was employed by Lugbill Bros, Inc., in Archbold, from 1962 until retiring in 2002, serving as general manager, vice president, and president from 1996-2002, and served on the Board of Directors many years.

He was a German Township zoning inspector, and served on the Fulton Co. Board of Health, Fulton Co. Community Improvement Corp, and the Varco-Pruden President Advisory Council.

He was a charter member of the Zion Mennonite Church, member of Orchard Hills Country Club, past president of Toledo Dist. Golf Assn., past president of the Archbold Area Chamber of Commerce, and past member of the Archbold Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki; two sons, Greg (Cindy) Nafziger of Dadeville, Ala., and Dave (Deb) Nafziger of Archbold; three stepchildren, Julie (Ed) Ruffer of Stryker, Joe (Julie) Frank and Jeff (Jodie) Frank, both of Archbold; four grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; four step-greatgrandchildren; one brother, Dale (Ruth Ann) Nafziger of Archbold; and one sister, Ilva King of Archbold.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth; and a sister, Helen Rychener.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Zion Mennonite Church with Pastor Mona Sauder and Pastor Sherm Kauffman officiating. Interment will precede in the Pettisville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Zion Church Fellowship Hall from 12-8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Short Funeral Home in Archbold has been entrusted with the arrangements.

The family suggests that memorials be given to Buckeye Border Fellowship of Christian Athletes or Zion Mennonite Church.
