Marvin H. Nagel, 73, of Union City, Mich., passed away Jan. 31, 2011, at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
He was born July 3, 1937, in Ridgeville, Ohio to Harold and Luella Elizabeth (Behrman) Nagel.
He married Marlene F. Miller on June 16, 1956 in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio. They were remarried on Oct. 16, 2002 in Albion, Ind. She survives.
Marvin worked in the excavating business most of his life in Ohio and Michigan and had owned Nagel Excavating in Union City since 1985. He loved heavy machinery and was a member of the international organization of antique excavating machinery.
Marvin was a former member of the Elks and Moose and had helped Ducks Unlimited with pond and wet land development.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene; children, Marvin (Brenda) Nagel, Jr., Glen (Diane) Nagel, Larry (Dana) Nagel, all of Wolcottville, Ind., Rene (Nagel) Roggow of Cape Coral, Fla., Ryan (Jennifer) Nagel of Union City; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Union City.
Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at 11 a.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Union City with Rev. David Dodge officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Union City.
