Marjorie A. Nafziger

Marjorie A. Nafziger, age 95 years, of Pettisville, passed away early Tuesday morning, Jan. 13, 2009, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold.

She was born June 27, 1913, near Wauseon, the daughter of Enos and Dora (Neuhauser) Aeschliman. She married Ervin J. Nafziger on March 3, 1936, and he preceded her in death on May 24, 2001.

A lifelong resident of the Pettisville area, she was a homemaker, and worked with Mennonite Disaster Service and Voluntary Service.

She was a charter member of the Zion Mennonite Church in Archbold.

She is survived by eight children, Leon (Juanita) Nafziger of Goshen, Ind., Carolyn (Howard) Snyder of Pettisville, Joe (Carol) Nafziger of Wauseon, Gil (Carol) Nafziger of Archbold, Tiye (Patrick) Calavan of Loma, Colo., Alene (Daniel) DeCoster of Belgium, Julia (Steve) Nafziger of Wauseon, and Angela (Steve) Gerig of Gridley, Ill.; a daughter-inlaw, Joyce Nafziger of Wauseon; 18 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 24 step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Galen Aeschliman, Darrel “Bud” (Louise) Aeschliman and Merle (Virginia) Aeschliman, all of Wauseon; and a sister-in-law, Anna Aeschliman of Archbold.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Stanley and George; a great-granddaughter; two brothers, Kenneth E. Aeschliman and Hyrthal Aeschliman.

Memorial services were held on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Zion Mennonite Church with Pastors Mona Sauder and Jessica Schrock-Ringenberg officiating. Interment preceded in the Pettisville Cemetery.

Short Funeral Home in Archbold was entrusted with the arrangements.
