Marissa Beck Sweeps On Dirt, Herschberger Wins On Pavement

Mann Wins Eighth Feature at Jackson Track


Marissa Beck 9, Pettisville, won both heats and the feature race in her kart racing class at the Edon dirt track Saturday, Aug. 4.

Duane Beck, her father, reported there were 10 karts in her junior sportsman one novice class. She was third in the feature at Edon, July 28.

Her brother, Kyle, 12, won his junior restricted class feature on the dirt July 28, then finished fifth on Aug. 4. Racing in the same class was Kyle DeKnight, 12, Pettisville, who was eighth on July 28, and tenth Aug. 4.

DeKnight went to Ft. Wayne, Ind., to race the high-bank paved oval kart track Friday, July 27. Running in the junior restricted class, he was fourth in two heat races and again in the feature race.

Also running at Ft. Wayne July 27 was Vance Nofziger, Pandora-Gilboa, formerly of Archbold. In the senior econo class, he was fifth in his first heat, third in the second, and finished fourth in the feature.

Herschberger In Karts

Tyler Herschberger stepped out of his mini-sprint dirt-track racer and into a senior econo class pavement kart Thursday, Aug. 2 at the Jackson, Mich. oval track.

He proved he still has what it takes to win in karts, winning the class feature.

Danielle Frey gave him a run for the checkers in senior econo. She set fast time for the class, won the heat race, but settled for second in the feature.

Jeremy Mann notched his eighth feature win in junior econo. He clocked fast time, was second in his heat by inches, then came back and won his class feature.

Huffman, Wyse, Kinsman

John Huffman, veteran Archbold kart racer, swept the stock heavy class at Jackson Aug. 2, and the stock 400 class at Fremont Sunday, July 29.

Logan Wyse won the stock medium class at Fremont that same day, sweeping both heats and the main event. It was his second time racing this season.
