Jerry E. Stevens, 54, Archbold, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct, Tuesday, May 1, after he created a disturbance in the downtown historic district.
Police were called to the 200 block of North Defiance Street about 5:45 pm that day for a report of a man standing in the street, shouting and stopping traffic.
When officers arrived, they were directed to the sidewalk in front of the Andres O’Neil Insurance Agency, where they found the man, later identified as Stevens, lying on his back.
The police report states the officer asked Stevens “if he had anything to drink, as I could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person.
“Jerry stated he was not drinking, and would not tell me his name.”
The report states Stevens was uncooperative and became more aggressive.
He was arrested and taken to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio on a charge of disorderly conduct.
Stevens appeared in court the following day via video, and entered a guilty plea. He was ordered to pay a $75 fine, $78 in court costs, and complete 15 hours of community service.
Without accepting the fact that everything changes, we cannot find per-fect composure. But unfor-tunately, although it is true, it is diffi cult for us to accept it. Because we cannot accept the truth of transience, we suffer. – Shunryu Suzuki
