Man Involved In Check Scam

An Archbold man has apparently been the victim of a fake check scam, according to Archbold Police.

David Martin, 51, Fox Chase, told police he received a check for $3,350. He took the check to a bank and cashed it on Tuesday, March 18.

He then purchased a moneygram, and sent a portion of the cash to an address in The Bronx, New York.

Later, it was discovered the check was fraudulent.

Martin Schmidt, Archbold Police chief, said Martin won’t be charged with a crime in connection with the incident, but he will be required to refund the bank the $3,350.
