Saul Reyes Maldonado, 27, Defiance, has been charged with obstructing official business, possession of drugs/marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia following a Wednesday, Feb. 3 incident in Archbold.
The Archbold police report on the incident states two officers were in the 1500 block of South Buehrer Street about 9:15 pm, when they smelled the odor of marijuana as a southbound van passed them.
One officer stopped the vehicle in the 1400 block of South Defiance Street.
“The subsequent investigation found that the passenger had thrown out the marijuana while I was catching up to vehicle,” one officer wrote in his report.
“The passenger was arrested and transported to CCNO.”
Tera Rogers, a police officer, said police recovered marijuana that was allegedly thrown from the vehicle.
The driver of the van was not charged.
Maldonado is currently free on $10,500 bond, 10% payment allowed.
