Madalyn A. Stanforth, age 88 years, of Archbold, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 2, 2010, at The Commons of Providence at Sandusky.
She was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Archbold, the daughter of Orrin and Gladys (Lauber) Taylor. She married William J. Stanforth on Dec. 30, 1945, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 29, 1996.
A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, she with her husband owned and operated the former City Drug Store in Archbold for over 30 years.
She was a member of the Archbold United Methodist Church and the Archbold Business and Professional Women.
She is survived by two sons, Rex (Judy) Stanforth of Norwalk, and Bruce (Loriann) Stanforth of Houston, Texas; two grandsons, Jeremy (Melaine) Stanforth of Pittsburg, Pa., and Orrin (Megan) Stanforth of Urbana; a great-granddaughter Leah; two brothers, O. Roger (Nancy) Taylor and Ross (Sharon) Taylor; one sister, Marilyn Smith, all of Archbold.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.
Services were held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Archbold United Methodist Church with Rev. David David officiating. Interment followed in the Archbold Cemetery.
Short Funeral Home in Archbold was entrusted with the arrangements.
