Paul MacDonald, Fulton County Clerk of Courts, outspent challenger James Parker in the Fulton County Republican party primary for the position in the Tuesday, May 4 election.
The public information was gleaned from campaign finance reports filed by the candidates.
MacDonald spent $1,011.18, which came from his own pocket. He also received an in-kind contribution valued at $500.
MacDonald purchased signs for $444.16. He made newspaper advertising purchases of $402.07, $65.20 and $99.75.
Parker spent a total of $303 on his campaign, which he funded himself.
Parker spent all of his money on newspaper advertisements. He made advertising purchases of $163, $95, and $45.
MacDonald defeated Parker 2,118 to Parker’s 1,111 in the primary. MacDonald’s cost per vote was 46¢; Parker, 27¢.
MacDonald was appointed clerk of courts at the beginning of 2010, to fill the unexpired term of Mary Gype, who retired at the end of 2009.
He is required to run in the general election to retain the position.
